Biography

A pianist and composer based in London, Alex performs widely across the UK and Europe in jazz and contemporary music ensembles. He studied Music at Oxford University and a Performance MA at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the Scott Philbrick Jazz Prize for outstanding postgraduate performance, Universal Music UK Sound Foundation sponsorship and the Countess of Munster Postgraduate Award. In collaboration with Mthuthuzeli November, Alex has written several works for the stage and contributed recorded and composed material for production soundtracks, including music for string quartet and percussion for Water Me (Staatsballett Karlsruhe), and recorded piano for Nina: By Whatever Means (Ballet Black) and My Mother’s Son (National Ballet of Canada).
