Biography

Canadian dancer Alicia Rose Couvrette joined The Royal Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme for the 2022/2023 Season. 

Couvrette was born in Montreal, Quebec and began ballet classes at the age of four. She started her training at L’Ecole Superieure de Ballet du Quebec and continued her studies at Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program in New York City from the age of fourteen. As a student at Ellison Ballet, she participated in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) NYC semi-finals where she won gold and bronze medals, and placed in the top 22 finalists in their NYC finals later that year. She joined The Royal Ballet School in 2019. In her 2nd Year at Upper School, she was awarded 3rd prize in the Lynn Seymour Competition for Expressive Dance. 

Whilst at The Royal Ballet School Couvrette performed in Didy Veldman’s Is to Be and Valentino Zucchetti’s Playfully So in 2021 and Rudolf Nureyev’s Raymonda Act III, Wayne McGregor’s PreSentient and John Neumeier’s Yondering in 2022. During her graduating year, she also performed alongside The Royal Ballet in their productions of Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake
