Born in London, Andrew O’Connor studied with Robert Dean and has sung throughout Europe, America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand in repertory ranging from Baroque to Contemporary. His long affiliation with the Royal Opera House began when he sang second boy in Die Zauberflöte in 1991. He later worked front of house as an usher while continuing his studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His Royal Opera roles now include Waiter (Der Rosenkavalier), Second Gambler (The Gambler), Young Lad (The Tsar’s Bride), Gentlemen (Anna Nicole), Uncle Yakusidé (Madama Butterfly), Ensemble (The Nose), Roderigo (Otello), Messenger (Il trovatore) and Altro Contadino (Pagliacci). Elsewhere, he has performed with companies including Opera Holland Park, Carl Rosa Opera, Grange Park Opera, London City Opera, Raymond Gubbay and the Glyndebourne Festival. O’Connor also performs widely in concert and has worked closely with composer and conductor Ronald Corp, who wrote the song ‘Darest Thou Now, O Soul’ for him.
