American tenor Brenton Ryan graduated from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and holds a BMus degree from DePaul University. Awards include the Mabel Dorn Reader Prize from Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Birgit Nilsson prize in the 2016 Operalia competition. 2023/24 Season engagements include house debuts at Liceu, Barcelona as Amore (Anthony and Cleopatra) and Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía as Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), and returns to Bayerische Staatsoper on tour as Tanzmeister (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Santa Fe Opera as Chris Michael (The Righteous). 2022/23 Season engagements included his house debut at Bayerische Staatsoper as Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Missail (Boris Godunov), a return to Dallas Opera for Loge and appearances at the Metropolitan Opera as Monostatos and Spoletta (Tosca). Addtional recent highlights include Pedrillo at the Metropolitan Opera and Los Angeles Opera, Lysander at Opera Philadelphia and Tanzmeister at Santa Fe Opera. He made his Royal Opera debut in the 2022/23 Season as Monostatos.
