Born in Austria, Christina Gansch studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum and the Royal Academy of Music and won the 2014 Kathleen Ferrier Award. Recent roles have included Pamina (The Magic Flute), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Dorinda (Orlando) for San Francisco Opera, Pamina, Zerlina and Servilia (La clemenza di Tito) for The Royal Opera, Servilia, Lenio (The Greek Passion) and Fifth Maid (Elektra) at the Salzburg Festival, Zerlina for Paris Opera, Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos) for La Scala, Milan, Gretel (Hänsel und Gretell) for Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich and Marzelline (Fidelio) for Teatro Comunale di Bologna. In 2021 she represented Austria in the Cardiff Singer of the World (reaching the final). Concert appearances include Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem (Hamburg PO under Nagano), Mozart’s Mass in C minor (Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra under Fischer), Mahler’s Symphony no.9 at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh Festival (BBC Symphony Orchestra under Bychkov), Ilia in Idomeneo (Concerto Köln under Nagano) and Zerlina (concerts, Sony recording under Currentzis). Her 2024/25 Season engagements include Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) for Welsh National Opera and her Zurich Opera and Semperoper Dresden debuts as Gretel.
