Chuma Sijeqa
Biography
Chuma Sijeqa was born in Johannesburg and studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He is an Opera for Peace emerging artist and a former member of the Jette Parker Artists and Les Azuriales programmes. Awards include second prize at the South Africa International Singing Competition and the Joseph Karaviotis Prize in the vocal competition of Les Azuriales Opera Festival (both 2018). Highlights include Don Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro (New Generation Festival, Florence), Father in The Prodigal Son, Landlord in Passion, Poison and Petrification (Pegasus Opera double bill), Dottore Grenvil in La traviata (Opera Glassworks film), Franz in Marx in London (Scottish Opera), Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen, Angelotti in Tosca, Second Philistine in Samson et Dalila, Second Nazarene in Salome, Speaker in The Magic Flute, Gasparo (Rita) and Schaunard (La bohème).
