Biography

He is a Staff Director at The Royal Opera House and has directed major revivals for The Royal Opera (Don Carlo, Les Vêpres siciliennes, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Macbeth, Fidelio, Un ballo in maschera, Die Zauberflöte, L’elisir d’amore, Rigoletto, Così fan tutte, La traviata, Simon Boccanegra, Don Pasquale, Der fliegende Holländer, Falstaff, La bohème and Madama Butterfly); La Scala (Lohengrin); Glyndebourne (Owen Wingrave, Kát’a Kabanová, The Makropulos Case, Tristan und Isolde and Jenůfa); ENO (Parsifal); Rome Opera (The Magic Flute); Israeli Opera (Jenůfa); ABAO Bilbao (Don Pasquale); Los Angeles Opera (Der fliegende Holländer); Opera Australia (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg); Greek National Opera (Don Carlo); the Canadian Opera Company (Così fan tutte); Liceu, Barcelona (Don Pasquale) and Teatro Massimo Palermo (Don Pasquale). He co-directed Nikolaus Lehnhoff’s production of Elektra for the Salzburg Festival.
