Edward Gardner is Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of Den Norske Opera & Ballett. He serves as Honorary Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, following his tenure as Chief Conductor, and was Music Director of English National Opera from 2007–15. Recent opera engagements include Bluebeard’s Castle and La voix humaine (Teatro di San Carlo, Naples), Bluebeard's Castle, Frauen-Liebe und Leben, A Florentine Tragedy and Un ballo in maschera (Den Norske Opera & Ballett), Werther (The Royal Opera, Metropolitan Opera), The Damnation of Faust, Carmen, Don Giovanni and Der Rosenkavalier (Metropolitan Opera), Káťa Kabanová (The Royal Opera) and Peter Grimes and Otello (Bayerischer Staatsoper). He maintains close relationships with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Philharmonia, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester BerlinGewandhausorchester Leipzig, Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Chicago Symphony and Montreal Symphony. Engagements for 2024/25 include appearances with the London Philharmonic, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Dallas Symphony, New World Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra, as well as Rusalka (Bayerischer Staatsoper) and La traviata and The Cunning Little Vixen (Den Norske Opera & Ballett).
