Emma Southworth is responsible for creating and programming the international dance seasons in the Linbury Theatre, alongside producing original productions and initiatives for Royal Opera House stages. She studied music at the University of Sheffield, then worked with Birmingham Arts Marketing. With DanceXchange she was Project Manager for British Dance Edition 2002 and Programme Manager for The Patrick Centre, establishing DanceXchange’s new venue within Birmingham Hippodrome. In 2007 she produced the inaugural International Dance Festival Birmingham and in 2008 became Deputy Director of Theatre and Artist Development at The Place. Since joining the Company in 2013, she has developed The Royal Ballet’s choreographic programme and initiated International Draft Works. She produced Kenneth MacMillan: A National Celebration in 2017 and took productions to the Barbican and Roundhouse during the Linbury closure period.
