Hong-Kong born British bass-baritone Freddie Tong trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His roles include Nourabad in The Pearl Fishers, The Cardinal in The Duchess Of Malfi and Monterone in Rigoletto (English National Opera), Alberich in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung (Hackney Empire), Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore (Grange Park Opera), Masetto in Don Giovanni (Opera Holland Park) and Colline in La bohème and Angelotti in Tosca (Opera Hong Kong). Previous roles for The Royal Opera include the Bong Tree (The Owl and the Pussycat). Recent engagements include the Mayor in Jenůfa, Baron Douphol in La traviata and Zuniga in Carmen for ENO, Hunding in Die Walküre and Caronte in L’Orfeo for Longborough Festival Opera and the Councilman in Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves at the Edinburgh International Festival and on tour with the Adelaide Festival, Australia.
