George Petean

Romanian baritone George Petean has sung Silvio (Pagliacci), Rossini’s Figaro, Giorgio Germont and Marcello for The Royal Opera. He was a member of Hamburg State Opera 2002–10. Highlights include Macbeth, Anckarström in Un ballo in maschera, Count di Luna, Carlo Gérard in Andrea Chénier, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Tonio in Pagliacci (Vienna State Opera), Ernesto in Il pirata (Teatro Real, Madrid), Giorgio Germont, Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino, Sir Riccardo Forth in I puritani and Anckarström (Zurich Opera), Rigoletto and Iago (Semperoper Dresden), Ezio in Attila (La Scala, Milan), Nabucco (Dutch National Opera), Enrico, Guy de Montfort in Les Vêpres siciliennes and Carlo Gérard (Bayerische Staatsoper), Count di Luna and Nabucco (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Iago (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Enrico and Count di Luna (Vienna State Opera) and Giorgio Germont (La Scala, Milan). His 2024/25 Season highlights include Rigoletto in Turin, Il trovatore in Hamburg and Don Carlo at Bayerische Staatsoper.
