Biography

Born in Germany, she studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künstein Stuttgart. She has worked regularly with Philipp Himmelmann, including in 2019 on The Queen of Spades (Essen), and with Stefan Herheim, with whom credits have included Parsifal (Bayreuth Festival), Rusalka (Brussels, Graz, Dresden), Lohengrin (Staatsoper Berlin), Der Rosenkavalier (Stuttgart), Lulu (Copenhagen, Oslo, Dresden), Salome (Salzburg Easter Festival, Copenhagen), Le nozze di Figaro (Hamburg), Eugene Onegin (DNO), Manon Lescaut (Graz, Dresden), Les Vêpres siciliennes (ROH) and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Salzburg Festival, Paris Opera). Other recent credits include collaborations with Philipp Stölzl on Der Freischütz (Bregenz Festival), Johannes Erath on The Tales of Hoffmann (Valencia) and Manon (Cologne) and Claus Guth on Il viaggio di Dante (Aix-en-Provence Festival), Semele (Bayerische Staatsoper) and Jenůfa (Lyric Opera of Chicago). She was named Costume Designer of the Year by Opernwelt for Parsifal (2009), Der Rosenkavalier (2010) and Les Vêpres siciliennes and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (2013).
