Biography

British baritone Huw Montague Rendall trained at the Royal College of Music and is a former Jerwood Young Artist (Glyndebourne Festival Opera) and a former member of the Young Artist Programme at the Salzburg Festival. His 2023/24 Season highlights included a debut as Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) with Staatsoper Hamburg and Les Musiciens du Louvre on tour at the Teatro Real, Madrid and at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Don Giovanni in concert at Opéra de Rouen. Concert highlights included a solo recital at Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg and his debut with Musikkollegium Winterthur, singing Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder. Additional recent highlights include Pelléas (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) at the Edinburgh International Festival, and Papageno (The Magic Flute) for The Royal Opera. He is winner of the 2024 Oper! Awards for Best Newcomer. His 2024/25 Season highlights include his role debut as Billy Budd at Vienna State Opera; Eisenstein on tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre; Pelléas at Paris Opera; Bach’s Johannespassion on tour with Ensemble Pygmalion; and Count Almaviva at Glyndebourne.
