Ildebrando D’Arcangelo appears at houses worldwide, including at the Vienna and Berlin state operas, Royal Opera House, Paris Opera, La Scala, Milan, Teatro Real, Madrid and the Metropolitan Opera. He made his Salzburg Festival debut in 1996 as Mozart’s Figaro, subsequently returning as Leporello and Don Giovanni. Recent highlights include Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) at La Scala, Milan, the title role in Attila at Opera de Marseilles, Ernani in concert with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and Publio (La clemenza di Tito) at the Salzburg Festival. Conductors with whom he has worked include Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Myung-Whun Chung, John Eliot Gardiner, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Tugan Sokhiev, Antonio Pappano and Goerg Solti. Engagements for 2024/25 include Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro) at Semperoper Dresden, Oroveso (Norma) at Vienna State Opera, and Verdi’s Requiem with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
