Biography

Hrůša is Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony, Music Director Designate of The Royal Opera (Music Director from 2025) and Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic. He was the 2023 Opus Klassik Conductor of the Year. He is a regular guest with worldwide orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, NHK Symphony, Chicago Symphony and New York Philharmonic. He has led opera productions for the Royal Opera House (Carmen and Lohengrin), Lyric Opera of Chicago (Jenůfa), Salzburg Festival (Kát’a Kabanová), Vienna State Opera and Zurich Opera (The Makropulos Case), Paris Opera (Rusalka) and the Glyndebourne Festival (VanessaThe Cunning Little VixenA Midsummer Night’s Dream, CarmenThe Turn of the ScrewDon Giovanni and La bohème). Awards include the ICMA Prize for both Symphonic Opera and Opera Video, the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, BBC Music Magazine, the Bavarian Culture Prize, the Sir Charles Mackerras Prize, the Antonín Dvořák Prize and the Bavarian State Prize for Music. Hrůša is President of the International Martinů Circle and The Dvořák Society.
