Biography

Born in Zurich, Karin Jud studied Fashion Design at the Basel School of Design and worked as a costume assistant at Schauspielhaus Zürich and Zurich Opera before beginning a career as a freelance costume designer in 2007. For theatre, she has designed costumes for productions at Theater Augsburg, Bavarian State Theatre, Schauspielhaus Hannover, Mainz State Theatre, Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Hamburg (including Ayad Akhtar’s Junk directed by Jan Philipp Gloger) and Schaubühne, Berlin, among others. For opera, she has designed costumes for Gloger’s productions of Le nozze di Figaro (Augsburg), Alcina and Simon Boccanegra (Semperoper Dresden), Der fliegende Holländer (Bayreuth Festival), Idomeneo (Frankfurt), La verità in cimento, Il turco in Italia and Die Csárdásfürstin (Zurich) and Eine florentinische Tragödie/Gianni Schicchi and Der Rosenkavalier (Dutch National Opera).
