Biography

English soprano Kiera Lyness began her music career as a violinist, studying at the Utrecht Conservatorium. She has performed opera, oratorio, recital, ensemble and session work with the BBC Singers, London Voices and D’Oyly Carte, among others. She joined the Royal Opera House Chorus in 2006, where roles have included La Charmeuse (Thaïs), Milliner (Der Rosenkavalier), Elizabeth’s Attendant (Tannhaüser), Youca (L’Etoile), Aunt (Madama Butterfly), Nun (Suor Angelica), Courtier (Król Roger), Coryphée (Iphigénie en Tauride) and soloist in 1984 and Anna Nicole. She has also covered Yvette (La rondine), Poussette (Manon), First Flower Maiden (Parsifal), Lay Sister (Suor Angelica), Soprano Soloist (Les Noces), Papagena (The Magic Flute), Despinio (The Greek Passion), Convict (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Voice From Heaven (Don Carlo), Dienerin (Elektra), Attendant (La Cenerentola) and Bridesmaid (Le nozze di Figaro). Other roles include Pamina (The Magic Flute), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Serpina (La Serva Padrona), Madamoiselle Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor), Despina (Così fan tutte), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) and Berta (The Barber of Seville) for the Opera Project.
