Biography

Scottish Soprano Lee Bisset studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the National Opera Studio, before joining the Young Singers’ Programme at English National Opera. In 2019 she made her Royal Opera debut as Liza (The Queen of Spades). Bisset has sung principal roles for companies including Opera North, Scottish Opera, Northern Ireland Opera, Konzert Theater Bern, Ópera de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, Ópera São Paulo, Opera Memphis and Opera Omaha. Her repertory includes the title roles of Jenůfa and Tosca, Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Minnie (La fanciulla del West), Senta (The Flying Dutchman), Third Norn (Götterdämmerung), Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) and Sieglinde (Die Walküre). Concert highlights include Beethoven’s Symphony no.9 at Teatro Real, Madrid, Mahler’s Symphony no.8 with the Orchestra of Opera North and the premiere of Piet Swerts’ Symphony of Trees with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. Plans include Brünnhilde in Longborough Festival Opera’s 2024 Ring cycle.
