Biography

Lee Hall is a dramatist born in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He has written new work for radio (Spoonface Steinberg), theatre (The Pitmen Painters), film (Rocketman) and has adapted work for the Royal National Theatre (Network), the RSC (A Servant to Two Masters), English National Opera (I Pagliacci), the National Theatre of Scotland and Live Theatre, Newcastle (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour) and many other theatres. He is probably best known for his film and musical Billy Elliot for which he wrote the screenplay, book and lyrics.
