Biography

Armenian tenor Liparit Avetisyan made his Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Alfredo Germont (La traviata) and has returned to sing Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) and in the 2018 spring gala.

Avetisyan was born in Yerevan and studied at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and the Yerevan State Conservatory. He has sung Alfredo (Semperoper Dresden, Zurich Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Bolshoi Theatre, Opera Australia, Hamburg, Berlin State Opera), Duke of Mantua (Seattle Opera, Opera Australia, Dresden, Cologne, Zurich), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Dresden), Chevalier des Grieux in Manon (Yerevan Opera, Stanislavsky Opera), Lensky (Opéra national du Rhin), Tamino (Festival Castell de Peralada), Rodolfo in La bohème (Frankfurt Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Toulouse), Vaudemont in Iolanta with the Berlin Philharmonic and Faust (Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires).

Awards include Second Prize in the Maria Biesu International Singing Competition and the III Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest, the Golden Mask for the Best Opera Actor, Onegin National Opera Award, Artavazd National Theater Award and Swallow Music Award. He is an Honoured Artist of the Republic of Armenia. 2024/25 Season highlights include La bohème and Il barbiere di Siviglia at Vienna State Opera, Rigoletto in Zurich and La traviata at Bayerische Staatsoper.
