Louise Alder studied at Edinburgh University and the Royal College of Music. Awards include the 2017 Young Singer Award at the International Opera Awards and the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She is a regular guest at Vienna State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper, Carnegie Hall and the Wigmore Hall, where she held an artistic residency in 2024. Recent engagements include Strauss’ Vier Lieder Op. 27 with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra; a concert of Mozart arias at the Royal Danish Theater; Haydn’s The Creation with the Gulbenkian Orchestra; her La Fenice, Venice debut in Mahler’s Symphony no.2.; Alexander’s Feast at the Mozartwoche, Salzburg; and a tour of Giulio Cesare together with The English Concert at the Barbican and in North America, culminating at Carnegie Hall. 2025/26 Engagements include her role and house debut as Zdenka in Arabella (Metropolitan Opera), the title role in Semele(Dutch National Opera) and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (Vienna/Monte Carlo). On the concert platform she will appear at the Bayerisches Staatsoper Festspiele and perform with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
