Biography

Born in Germany, he was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral, later studying singing at Trinity College of Music (now Trinity Laban Conservatoire). He has worked for opera companies including Glyndebourne (Festival and on Tour), Salzburg Festival, Dutch National Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet, Garsington Festival, Opéra National de Lorraine and Opéra de Lyon. He sang Eufemio in Storace’s Gli equivoci for Batignano Festival. He joined the Royal Opera Chorus in 2000 and has since sung roles including Animal Seller (Der Rosenkavalier), Janissary (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Parpignol (La bohème), Young Drunk (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Giuseppe (La traviata), Peasant (La Fille du régiment), First Gambler (The Gambler) and Third Squire (Parsifal, under Simon Rattle). His oratorio repertory includes Britten’s Saint Nicolas, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle, Ramírez’s Navidad nuestra, Elgar’s Caractacus and Handel’s Judas Maccabeus. He has given recitals in the UK, across Europe and in Trinidad.
