Biography

Swedish soprano Maria Bengtsson’s recent engagements include Countess (Capriccio) at Oper Frankfurt, Contessa (The Marriage of Figaro) at Staatsoper Hamburg, Paris Opera and Vienna State Opera, Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) at Dutch National Opera, Vienna State Opera and Grand Théâtre de Genève, Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) at Teatro Real, Madrid and Paris Opera, Gräfin (Capriccio) at Vienna State Opera, Blanche (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Frankfurt, the title role in Rusalka at Vienna State Opera, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) in Naples, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at Staatsoper Berlin, the soprano parts in the scenic versions of Verdi's Requiem in Hamburg and of Elias in Vienna, and the title role in the world premiere of Glanert's Oceane in Berlin. She made her Royal Opera debut in 2009 as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and has since returned for Countess Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro), Fiordiligi, Ellen Orford and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni). Her 2024/25 season engagements include the new production of Intermezzo at Semperoper Dresden, Donna Anna in Monaco, Marschallin at Oper Frankfurt and Contessa at the Münchner Opernfestspiele.
