Ukrainian dancer Marianna Tsembenhoi is a First Artist of The Royal Ballet. She trained at The Royal Ballet Upper School and graduated into the Company during the 2020/2021 Season. She was promoted to First Artist in 2024.
Born in Kyiv, Marianna began her ballet training at the age of three at Kijanochka Ballet School. She joined The Royal Ballet School in 2017. While at the School she performed in Ashley Page’s Larina Waltz at the Prix de Lausanne and Andrew McNicol’s Sea Interludes at the School’s annual matinee. Her repertory with the Company includes Clara (The Nutcracker), Shepherdess (The Winter's Tale), and roles in Anemoi, Les Rendezvous, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Mayerling, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Like Water for Chocolate, Elite Syncopations, Diamonds, Light of Passage, Everyone Keeps Me and Anemoi. She has created roles in Mthuthuzeli November's For What It's Worth, Wayne McGregor’s Untitled, 2023 and Joseph Toonga’s See Us!!
Upon graduation in 2020, Tsembenhoi received the Ashton Award for showing style, personality and technique in Frederick Ashton's ballets. She won gold and silver medals at the Youth American Grand Prix in 2016 and a scholarship to The Royal Ballet Upper School in 2017.
