Biography

Matthew Forbes trained as an actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, specialising in collaborative and devised theatre. He works internationally as a director and actor, with a strong focus on puppetry, object manipulation and physical theatre. Puppetry and movement directing credits include War Horse (National Theatre, West End, Europe, South African and UK tours); War Horse – The Prom (BBC Proms); The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (UK tour); The Magic Flute (Welsh National Opera); Bluebeard’s Castle (Beijing Music Festival); A Christmas Carol (Nottingham Playhouse, Alexandra Palace, BBC and cinema release); The Good Life (UK tour); Hansel and Gretel (British Youth Opera); Holes (Nottingham Playhouse and UK tour); Skellig (Nottingham Playhouse); Babe, The Sheep-Pig (Polka Theatre and UK tour); Treasure Island (Leicester Haymarket Theatre); Dinner at the Twits and Adventures in Wonderland (Les Enfants Terribles, The Waterloo Vaults); The Witches (Dundee Rep); Ragtime and Once on This Island (ArtsEd); and The Steadfast Tin Soldier (Little Angle Theatre).
