Oliver Platt has worked extensively as an assistant director and staff director at the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, Tête à Tête and the Royal College of Music, for directors including David McVicar, Barrie Kosky and Richard Jones. Productions for the Royal Opera House include Associate Director for Aida and Assistant Director for Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, Jenůfa, Don Giovanni, Król Roger and Così fan tutte. His directing credits include Le nozze di Figaro and L’arlesiana (OHP), Iolanta/L’enfant et les sortilèges (Royal Academy of Music), two productions of Così fan tutte (OHP, Guildhall School of Music & Drama), Der Freischütz (Blackheath Halls Opera), The Elixir of Love (Scottish Opera), La Cenerentola (OHP/Danish National Opera, Reumert Prize nomination) and Owen Wingrave (The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). His 2015 Suor Angelica (and the revival of Gianni Schicchi), as part of Il trittico for OHP, was chosen as one of The Telegraph’s ‘Best 5 Productions of the Year’ and earned a nomination for Best New Production from WhatsOnStage.
