American mezzo-soprano Rachael Wilson is based in Germany. She was a member of the Opera Studio and later the Ensemble of Bayerische Staatsoper, where her roles included Dorabella (Cosi fan tutti), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Kay (world premiere of The Snowqueen) and Fatime in Weber’s Oberon – a performance for which she was awarded the Bayerische Festspielpreis. Engagements elsewhere include the title role of Carmen for Staatsoper Stuttgart and Theater Basel, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) for Malmö Opera and Santa Fe Opera, Charlotte (Werther), Fricka (Das Rheingold) and the title role of Juditha Triumphans for Staatsoper Stuttgart; Kay (The Snowqueen) for Opéra national du Rhin and at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; Cherubino for Teatro Real, Madrid; Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for Glyndbourne Festival and Balkis (Barkouf) and Olga (Eugene Onegin) for Zurich Opera.
