Biography

Born in New Zealand, Rhonda Browne studied on the Singers of Tomorrow programme at the National Opera Studio and won the London Wagner Society’s Bayreuth Bursary and Audience Prize. Roles include Erda (Das Rheingold, Siegfried), and Schwertleite (Die Walküre) for Longborough Festival Opera, Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin) for West Green House Opera, Lady Bertram (Mansfield Park) for Opera South, Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress) for Bury Court Opera, Mistress Bentson (Lakmé) for Swansea City Opera, Witch (Hänsel und Gretel) for Lyric Opera Ireland, Pop-Up Opera, Iford Arts, Opera in Space and Open Door Opera, Auntie (Peter Grimes) with the Nottingham Philharmonic, The Duchess of Plaza Toro (The Gondoliers), Ludmila (The Bartered Bride) and Gudrun in the world premiere of Coleridge Taylor’s Thelma for Surrey Opera, Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) for Talent Unlimited and Giornata Opera, Zita (Gianni Schicchi) for Fulham Opera, Handel’s Messiah for The Merry Opera Company and Rossweisse (Die Walküre) for The Mastersingers.
