Samira Saidi graduated from The Royal Ballet School in 1979 to join Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, becoming Birmingham Royal Ballet in 1990. During her 20-year career she worked with Ashton, De Valois, MacMillan and Wright, dancing leading roles in much of the classical repertoire including Giselle and Odette/Odile. She created roles in ballets by Deane, Corder and Tuckett amongst others, as well as the title role of Bintley’s full length ballet, The Snow Queen. Additional repertoire included works by Balanchine, Cranko, De Mille, Hynd, Massine, Nureyev, Tudor and Van Manen. Since retiring she teaches and coaches nationally and internationally and regularly judges at international ballet competitions. In 2012, she was appointed Director of Dance at English National Ballet School until 2017 when she joined The Royal Ballet School as a member of its senior leadership team.
