Biography

He studied at the Conservatoire in Lyon and was a member of Opéra de Lyon (1998–2001). In 2018, he created the role of King in George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence for The Royal Opera. Other appearances include Magnard’s Guercœur (Strasbourg), Eugene Onegin (Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse, La Monnaie, Brussels), Posa in Don Carlos (Geneva), Ford in Falstaff (Aix-en-Provence, Opéra de Lyon), Wozzeck (Toulouse), Count Almaviva (Dutch National Opera, The Royal Opera, Bavarian State Opera), Chorèbe in Les Troyens, Hercule/High Priest of Apollo in Alceste and Albert in Werther (Paris Opera), Raimbaud in Le comte Ory (La Scala, Milan), Theatre Director in Philippe Boesmans’ Pinocchio (Aix-en-Provence, Dijon, Brussels), Valentin in Faust (Teatro Real, Madrid), the title role in Hamlet (Opéra-Comique) and Posa (Opéra de Lyon). His recordings include Enfers, Matthäus-Passion, Mein Traum and Harmonie du Soir (Harmonia Mundi) and Histoires Naturelles and Das Lied von der Erde (B Records). He is a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
