English fight director Terry King made his Royal Opera debut in 1992 on Porgy and Bess, directed by Trevor Nunn. He has since returned to work on Macbeth, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and Don Carlo, directed by Nicholas Hytner, for The Royal Opera. Other work seen at the Royal Opera House include Opera North’s production of Troilus and Cressida, directed by Matthew Warchus.
King has worked as a fight director for plays, operas and musicals. For the National Theatre his credits include His Dark Materials, Henry IV Parts I and II, Scenes from the Big Picture, Othello and The Duchess of Malfi. For the Royal Shakespeare Company his credits include Hamlet, Henry VI, As You Like It, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night and Cymbeline. Other theatre companies he has worked with include the Royal Court, Almeida, Donmar and Shakespeare’s Globe. West End credits include Shakespeare in Love.
King’s musical theatre credits include Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver!, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Billy Elliot, Jerry Springer: the Opera and Lord of the Rings. He has also worked widely for television.
