Biography

He was a chorister and the first choral scholar at Lichfield Cathedral and a scholar and lay-clerk at Durham Cathedral. A graduate of the RAM and winner of the Van Someren Godfrey English Song Prize, he has worked with opera companies including Glyndebourne, Wexford and ETO. He has appeared in Europe, Japan and the USA, his repertory including Don Alfonso, Figaro, Sparafucile and the four villains (Les contes d’Hoffmann). He is a member of the Royal Opera Chorus, and has sung Notary (Don Pasquale), Male Voice (Jenůfa), Nightwatchman (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Old Gypsy (Il trovatore), Pietro (Simon Boccanegra), Messenger (La traviata), Official Registrar (Madama Butterfly), Policeman (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Dimitri (The Greek Passion), Surgeon (La forza del destino), Servant (Macbeth), Innkeeper (Manon Lescaut), Herald (Otello) and Alcindoro (La bohème) for The Royal Opera and in Les Noces for The Royal Ballet.
