Wolfgang Heinz

Born in Wiesbaden and raised in Munich, Heinz studied conducting and piano at the Cologne Academy of Music after working as an assistant at the Bavarian State Opera. He has rich experience in opera repertory, having worked as Kapellmeister at several German opera houses. After working as music director of the Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen, he moved to the Staatstheater Stuttgart in 1999 and has conducted opera and ballet there since. Since 2008, he has been deputy music director of Stuttgart Ballet. Since 2009 Wolfgang Heinz has been permanent guest conductor of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He has performed with many orchestras and in many opera houses worldwide in guest engagements since 2004, including Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Ballet Munich, Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Royal Swedish Opera Stockholm and with Tokyo Ballet and Scottish Ballet.
