Biography

Chinese soprano Ying Fang’s recent appearances include Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Paris Opera), Poppea in Agrippina and Pamina in The Magic Flute (Dutch National Opera), her role debuts as Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice (Metropolitan Opera) and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier (Santa Fe Opera) and her Vienna State Opera debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Her 2024/25 Season engagements include Susanna (Lyric Opera of Chicago), Pamina (Bayerische Staatsoper), Marzelline in Fidelio (Metropolitan Opera), Ilia in Idomeneo (San Francisco Opera) and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi at the Verbier Festival. Her concert engagements include Mahler’s Symphony no. 4 and Strauss songs with the Sydney Symphony, Mahler’s Symphony no. 8 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, European tours of St John Passion with Ensemble Pygmalion and Mahler’s Symphony no. 4 with NHK Symphony Orchestra, and Bach’s Mass in B Minor at the Verbier Festival. She makes her debut with The Royal Opera in the 2024/25 Season as Susanna.
