Biography

Transylvanian baritone Zoltan Nagy started his international career as a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble, which he joined at the age of 24. Performing both comic and dramatic roles, he regularly appears across Asia and Europe. Nagy has sung over twelve productions as Escamillo (Carmen) in Palermo, Bilbao, Xi’an, Torino, Nürnberg, Budapest and Bucharest. Additional highlights include Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro) for Bolshoi Theatre, Alberich (Siegfried, Götterdämmerung) in Oviedo, Falke (Die Fledermaus) in Trieste and productions of La bohème as both Schaunard and Marcello in Antwerp, Budapest, Nice, Leipzig, Sassari and Gent. Recordings include Theseus (Ariane) with the Essen Philharmonic on Supraphon in 2016, and on the Unitel DVD release of La Wally, produced in Vienna.
