Background

Family Sundays are a great way to explore the Royal Opera House, its artists and the world of opera and ballet in a fun relaxed environment. With bean bags, and plenty of space for your family to enjoy live music and dance, each Family Sunday is packed with creative and practical activities for all the family. Activities include:

  • Informal performances from Royal Ballet dancers, Jette Parker Artists and musicians
  • Interactive singing or dance workshops
  • Live theatrecraft or stage combat demonstrations
  • Upcycling activities led by our dedicated team of Opera House makers and creatives.

Activities are designed for families with children aged three to ten in mind, but there’s something for everyone at Family Sundays. Please purchase one ticket per person attending. Babes in arms do not require a ticket. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Tickets for Family Sundays are released on general booking day with additional ticket releases in the lead up to the event. If tickets aren’t currently available please check back. Sign up to our newsletter to receive information regarding Family Sunday events and further ticket releases.

We also offer discounted tickets to Family Sundays for community groups and organisations. If you’d like to be considered please complete this form.

Access

Family Sundays take place throughout the whole of the Royal Opera House, which is a large building with many stairs, escalators and lifts. The flooring in the building varies – some floors are smooth and tiled, and some are carpeted. There is step-free access to the building from the Bow Street entrance and from here, you’ll find the escalators and lifts that take you throughout the building.

These events can be busy, loud and bright at times, but we can lend ear defenders and have a space for quiet reflection.
