Rites and rituals are explored in this postmodern work for Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival.
Pam Tanowitz returns to the Royal Opera House with her own company, Pam Tanowitz Dance, in this exploration of ritualised behaviour.
Neither Drums nor Trumpets explores performing rituals, and codified techniques in an unusually layered contemporary collage. Known for her deft and witty choreographic style, Tanowitz draws upon the Paul Hamlyn Halls’ rich history as a former market, dance hall and storage for theatre scenery, and its current use as a gathering and hospitality space. The work is dedicated to one of Tanowitz’s mentors, the late and prolific postmodern choreographer, David Gordon.
