Background

Our public spaces are open all weekend for you to visit. Enjoy a drink in our café or on the terrace, visit our shop or view our exhibitions. You can also book a short tour, as part of the Open House Festival 2023. The tour will take you through our stunning building, following in the footsteps of royalty as you pass through the Royal Box and Retiring Room. All tours must be booked in advance.

As the Royal Opera House is a fully working theatre, each tour is a unique experience and varies according to what is available on the day. Please remember that you are visiting a working theatre and plans may change at short notice.

Please note this tour does not enter the backstage areas of the Royal Opera House.

Want to see more? Over the Open House weekend you can book one of our many exciting tours for just £17. Book in-person at our Box Office desk on the 9-10 September.

Important information about your visit

  • Contact-free bag checks will be in operation.
  • Be mindful of others and their personal space, especially when moving around the building
  • We are a cashless venue so please bring a payment card for any purchases.
